Chi Nei Tsang (Chinese Abdominal Massage)

Chi Nei Tsang is a specialist abdominal massage technique originally used by monks in ancient China to purify their bodies as part of the purification required for their spiritual practices.  The massage was used to detoxify, strengthen and refine their bodies in order to carry higher level frequencies of energy.

Chi Nei Tsang was revived and brought back into the modern world in the twentieth century by Master Mantak Chia  It is the physical branch of a comprehensive system of personal development called the ‘Universal Tao’.  This system involves a progressive series of internal energy cultivation, purification and meditation techniques which purify one on all levels (ie, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually).

Chi Nei Tsang literally translates as "Working the energy of the internal organs" or "Internal organs chi transformation". It focuses mainly on the abdominal organs, moving toxins and stagnant energy out so that the Chi can flow naturally and freely around the body.  All major systems of the body are addressed: digestion, respiration, lymph, nervous, endocrine, urinary, reproductive, skeleto-muscular and the acupuncture meridien system.

How can Chi Nei Tsang help

As an holistic massage therapy, Chi Nei Tsang’s aim is to integrate the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of the self.

Practitioners work mainly on the abdomen, with deep, soft and gentle touch, to train the internal organs to work more efficiently.

On a physical level the massage movements will:

  • Help to improve the body's digestive and elimination functions
  • Stimulate the lymphatic and circulatory systems
  • Aid in strengthening the immune system and increasing resistance to disease
  • Help to correct postural problems resulting from visceral (organ) imbalances

On an emotional level the massage can:

  • Assist in releasing deep-seated tensions and unprocessed emotions that are stored in the organs

In many cases it has been helpful against chronic pains such as back, neck and shoulder pains, and problems related to misalignment of the feet, legs and pelvis.

It may also aid other health care modalities in achieving optimal results (eg, clients can use it before and after surgery to recover better and faster).
